Stardust Trailer and Poster.

We’re told the name of the film at the end of the trailer because the trailer itself will hold your attention and make you want to go and see the film, and when the title appears that will be the last thing you remember and you’ll know what the film is when the trailer again appears on T.V. We are told who is appearing in the film because if they are famous and we like the actor/actress it will make us want to go and see the film. If a certain type of actor is in a film you will expect the type of genre they are best known for. The way the information is given to us is the actor’s name is placed in the trailer and then a clip of the actor is shown. The type of action from the trailer we see are fights such as sword fights and fights with magic as the film is a supernatural movie. In the trailer the action is given to us in bursts, it’s played really fast to keep the audience interested and gets the audiences adrenalin going and creates an excited buzz. You can tell what type of film the trailer is showing because of the music. The music in the trailer is fast-paced and increases as the clips in the trailer increases.
The voiceover introduces the story and the characters. The voice belongs to a man and he sounds really old which helps to create a fairytale feel.
The speed in the trailer picks up toward the end because it is made up of action and gives more to the story and makes the audience more excited to see it. It compares to watching just one clip because you get more feel for the film and what it’s going to be like. It gives you more of an overview of the film than just watching one clip. The information we are given in the very last frame of the trailer is the websites and the director’s name, so that people can go on the website and find out more about the film. There are also the names of the actors and actresses and also the film company logo.  The trailer is more effective in making you want to see the film because it shows you a lot of clips; gives an overview of the storyline and shows the actors and actresses featuring in the film. It creates a buzz for the audience and makes them excited to see the film.

Hairspray Trailer and Poster.

We are told the name of the film at the end of the trailer so that the audience will watch the trailer to find out the name of the film. Then when they hear the name they’ll think of the trailer.  We are told who is starring in the film so that the audience will want to watch it if the film has a famous actor or actress in it. We are told the names of the actors at the end of the trailer and we are shown a clip of the actors so that they stand out.  We see singing and dancing as well as acting in the trailer as ‘Hairspray’ is a musical. So if the audience like musicals they will want to go and see the film as the trailer shows numerous clips of singing and dancing. The music in the trailer is from the musical numbers in the film to promote the fact the film is a musical, so the audience will be in no doubt as to what type of film it is. There is a voiceover at the beginning of the trailer to introduce it. And then in the middle of the trailer to tell the audience about what is going to happen to show what the storyline is about and what the whole point of the film is about. Watching the trailer is better than watching a film clip because you get loads of information at once so that you can understand more of what the film is about.
In the last frame of the trailer you get the film company logo, the actor’s names and the names of the director and producer. The trailer is more effective in making the audience watch the film because it shows the action and the storyline of the film. You can also see the actors in their characters and the audience can also see what the characters are like.

Atonement Trailer and Poster.

We see who the actors are towards the end of the trailer. The actors name appears and then we see a clip of the actors. This is so that if the audience don’t know who the actor is they can see them in the trailer and in the film.  We are told who is starring in the film so that the audience knows who is in the film and if they like a particular actor they will want to go and see the film. We see war clips and romantic clips and dramatic clips. This is because they show the atmosphere of the film. And also the genre of the film. The music in the trailer is sad because Atonement is about war and separation. It helps to determine the genre of the movie as it wouldn’t have energetic music when the storyline is dramatically sad. There is no voiceover in the trailer because the music speaks for itself and the clips help the audience to get a gist of what the film is about. The speed of what we see in the trailer compares to what we see in the movie because a clip just gives a little bit of detail and information of the movie. The trailer speeds up at the end of the trailer, not by much but there are more clips shown at the end than at the beginning.
In the last frame of the trailer there is only text ‘Coming Soon.’ There is no list of the director or producer. Instead it gives the name of the director in the middle of the film. The trailer is more effective in making the audience want to see the film because the trailer shows numerous clips of the film and gives an overview of the storyline of the film. However the poster creates a contrast between the two main characters as the female is in a meadow and it’s calm whereas the male is in a war torn country and this shows he is in a tense situation.

Transformers Poster and Trailer.

We are told the name of the film at the end of the trailer, but we are given a clue as to what it is at the beginning when it mentions, ‘Will be Transformed.’ We aren’t told who is in the film it just tells us the director and producers. This could make the audience research the film and find out who is starring in it. The type of action from the film we see is action from the Transformers and the government. It is relevant for the genre of the film. The type of music is alien noises and shutter sounds, which relates back to machines and tells the audience that the film is a Sci-Fi movie.  There isn’t any voiceover's which makes the audience watch the trailer and take more notice of what the trailer is advertising. The frames at the beginning fade in and out and picks up speed at the end which creates suspense. The speed of the trailer is quite fast and throws a lot of information at the audience which makes them think about the film. The speed stays the same throughout the trailer. The information we are given in the very last frame of the trailer is the names of the producer and director and the film company. We are also shown the logo of Transformers. The trailer is more effective in making you want to go and see the film because it shows the action from the film, which a poster can’t do because it is promoting the trailer as well as the film and doesn’t give much information about the film.

Unique Selling Point
It is the second film of Sherlock Holmes and continues the story of the first Sherlock. It has famous actors in it, from the last film.
Target audience
Action and mystery lovers. I think the audience would be a mix of males and females because, females would like the male actors and the males would like the action and the female actors. I think the age of the audience would be young adult.
Music
The music is fast pace and matches the explosions and fight sequences in the trailer.
